Just a reminder that next week the Agatha Christie Blogathon begins: Friday the 16th through Sunday the 18th! Domi from Little Bits of Classics and I are really looking forward to reading everyone’s entries.
There is still plenty of time to sign up if you want to participate. We are celebrating all things related to Agatha Christie – her novels, her life, her characters. More information can be found on the original announcement, here.
So please join us in celebration of Agatha Christie’s 126th birthday (September 15th). May her reign as the Queen of Crime continue! 🙂

I happened to be driving over to do a wedding rehearsal with a couple in a church about 20 miles from my home yesterday listening to BBC Radio 3 when the announcer told us that it was Agatha Christie’s birthday. She then played the opening credits music to Murder on the Orient Express composed by the wonderful Richard Rodney Bennett. I still remember going to see the film. It must be back in 1974. Bennett’s music made me sit up straight. I knew that this was going to be an event! The other thing that made the film memorable was Albert Finney’s Poirot. Actually Finney is memorable in every film I have seen him in, even as Mr Warbucks in Annie. Peter Ustinov always played himself although he did it wonderfully.
I do look forward to the blogathon and wish you every success.

Thanks for the good wishes! Murder on the Orient Express is one of my very favorite Christie films, it must have been fantastic to see when it first came out in theaters! And hear that score. Your comment has sent me to youtube to listen to the score again! 🙂 Until you mentioned it, I had not realized who had written the score. Thanks! I found this version of it on youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myc3A4spmJQ
I think so far Annie and Orient Express are the only films I’ve seen Albert Finney in, but he was fantastic…and so very different in each role! I

My personal favourite Finney role was as Winston Churchill in a BBC film entitled, The Gathering Storm. He plays opposite Vanessa Redgrave as Clementine Churchill and together they bring the story and that relationship to life.

Oh, interesting! That sounds like a film most definitely worth seeing.
