“The Characters in Costume Blogfest” Begins Next Friday!

21 Oct

lotr-6Andrea Lundgren – of Into the Writerlea – and I are so excited for next week and the Characters in Costume Blogfest: Fiction and Film. Our tag is:

“Appearance, Accuracy, Description, Makeup, Casting, Costumes & More.”

Beginning next Friday, October 28th-30th, it is focused on characters both in film and fiction. How they look, how authors describe them, how they are costumed, how they are transferred from the page to screen. In short, what goes into creating the appearance of a character through words or on screen.

The original announcement with the sign-up link can be found here.

There is still plenty of time to sign-up. The sign-up never closes…at least not until the blogfest is completely over. 🙂

Andrea Lundgren has already made a beginning by writing this thought-provoking article about how Cinderella’s stepsisters are presented in fiction and film. It is called “Cinderella’s Stepsisters: Ugly or Mislabeled?”

Can’t wait to hear from everyone next week!

So excited for this. My post has been ready for two weeks now. It’s probably one of my favorite things I’ve ever written.

Wow, I really have to take my hat off to you in how prepared you are! I’m one of those disorganized kind of people who write the night before of the morning of.

I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to reading your post on the fashions of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire’s characters. 🙂 I never get enough of them, but have never truly looked at what they are wearing. Can’t wait!

Looking forward to it! Any excuse to watch A Few Good Men again works for me… 🙂

So glad it provides a good excuse. 🙂 I have not seen A Few Good Men, so I am quite looking forward to learning about it! I always come out of these blogathons with such long (but delightful) to-watch lists. I’m still catching up on Agatha Christie! 🙂

(Finally got to see Margaret Rutherford in Murder, She says – which was hilarious – and the Joan Hickson version and I finished reading the book earlier this week).

So glad you enjoyed the Rutherford film! I know Christie purists hate them but I think they’re so much fun. I’d love to read your take on it…

I would like to write to review it! I’m conflicted about whether to review it alone or do a review about it and the book and the Hickson version.

Sometimes, I think a movie can be better when it departs wildly from a book. It’s so much better then being a kind of half-baked, semi-close, anemic kind of movie adaptation of a book. There feels like nothing worse than a movie that’s too close that it always reminds one how much better the book is. And Rutherford is so hilarious! 🙂

Yes, it was so thought-provoking and offered a new perspective on princesses I’d never thought of before!
